Welkom bij IMIEU
IMI heeft twee belangrijke hoofd-activiteiten:
- Het initieren en ontwikkelen van Europese samenwerkingsprojecten, gericht op het demonstreren dat economische ontwikkeling samen kan gaan met het verbeteren van de toestand van natuur en milieu.
- Het geven van advies ten aanzien van natuurbeschermingswetgeving en geintegreerde beheersplannen voor de besluitvorming, implementatie, vergunningverlening en ontwikkeling van infra-projecten als maritieme infrastructuur, visserij, kustverdedigingswerken, hernieuwbare energie, energievoorzieningsnetwerken en kustplannen. Dit advies is meestal bestemd voor projectorganisaties of overheidsorganisaties en wordt gegeven vanuit een neutraal perspectief, in samenwerking met natuur- en milieu belangenorganisaties.
Een aanvullende specialisatie van IMI is gericht op grensoverschrijdende problematiek ten aanzien van de kaderrichtlijn water, Natura 2000 en integrale beheersplannen.

The World Future Energy Summit 2013 in Abu Dhabi has called the attention of the international energy community all around the globe. The event hosted by Masdar was of interest not only for world-leading technology developers, but also for policymakers and international companies. Amongst the personalities that where present at the summit the French President François Hollande or the current Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-Moon.
Last October 28–31, 2012 IMIEU was present at the desalination meeting in the 5th International Desalination Workshop (IDW2012) Jeju Island - Republic of Korea.
The next INES meeting will be held on 18 and 19 October 2012 in Singapore. It will focus on the exploration of salinity gradient energy applications for the desalination configuration in Singapore. On September the 5th 2012 the Integrated Network for Energy from Salinity Gradient Power INES held a workshop in Milan, Italy. This meeting was part of the "International Workshop on Salinity Gradient Energy Milan 2012", Organized by CAPMIX in collaboration with the Polytechnic Institute of Milan.

On the 18th of November the IMI took part in the seaHERO forum 3 on Jeju Island, Korea. The director of the Institute, Frank Neumann, gave a presentation covering the European approach to the development of Salinity Gradient Power. He also referred to the INES project, highlighting the results of the meetings of 2011 and presenting the various partners of the project. |
