Frank Neumann, Director


Frank Neumann studied Public Administration at Leiden University and at Indiana University and was a trainee with the European Commissions- DG Environment at the task force Environment/Internal Market. He holds a doctorate in Environmental Management and Public Administration from the University of Rotterdam and was a visiting scientist at MIT's Sloan School and Princeton University. He has worked as a consultant with the Environment Directorate of the OECD and is currently the Director of the Institute for Infrastructure, Environment and Innovation in Brussels. Furthermore, he is a co-ordinator of the Paralia Nature project and advises port infrastructure and wind farm projects in relation to nature protection.

 

Hans Woldendorp, Senior Advisor

Hans Woldendorp studied law at Leiden University and works part-time as a senior adviser for the Institute for Infrastructure, Environment and Innovation. He has also worked for the European Commission’ s DG Environment Legal department as a contact officer for The Netherlands and Belgium, specialising amongst others in the Birds and Habitats directives and large port projects in coastal zones. He publishes on the legal aspects of European and national nature protection policy in The Netherlands and advises large and small infrastructure projects (offshore as wells as onshore) in The Netherlands, and in France regarding the Birds and the Habitats directives and national permitting procedures.

 

 

Dr. Aurelia Munck, Ecological Advisor

Aurelia Munck studied biological sciences at the Ludwig-Maximillians-University in Munich, Germany. She holds a doctorate in ecology and is specialized on the effects of anthropogenic land use on biodiversity, the indicator potential of birds in nature conservation and biogeography issues.

 

At IMI her workscope is the implementation of the Natura 2000 Birds and Habitat Directive and the Water Framework Directive in various case studies and here especially the possibilities of Compensation and Natural Asset Creation models in Central Europe (e.g. Habitat-Banking).

Another field of activity is the ecological evaluation of some European projects on using sustainable “green energy” like tidal- and wave-energy.

 

François Lienard Project Officer

François Lienard Holds a Master in Business Administration from the IAE of Toulouse and a Master in Political Science. He studied Anthropology at the University  of Toulouse. He was field officer in a sustainable tourism NGO in Cameroon and policy evaluation trainee in a Private firm.

François has a varied background activity, from office assistant to stock management in the supply chain industry.Currently, François is project officer at IMI, in charge of energy saving studies applied to small business, developing “green” practical solutions for a variety of clients. Managing Wave and Tidal energy projects, He advices on European funding programmes for renewable energy and is also involved in the Paralia Nature Project organisation.

 


Marcel Matser, Project Officer

Marcel holds a Master of Science in Politics from the Free University of Brussels and a Bachelor in Business Administration from Hogeschool Arnhem & Nijmegen. During different traineeships he obtained knowledge in the field of quality management, organization management and process management.

At IMI, Marcel is a project assistant occupied with  nature protection, spatial planning and Natura 2000 projects. He enhances the cooperation projects, diffuses information and maintain liaison with key stakeholders.

 

 

Sumeet Singh, Project Officer

Sumeet holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from India and is a perspective candidate of MSc. degree in Management(spl-Project management) from Boston University in Belgium. He was a management trainee/Electrical Engineer with a steel production firm in India. He has also pursued studies in Dublin, Ireland, to do post-graduate courses in International Business Management. Sumeet has worked in different working environments and holds experience in carrying out technical projects. He has a background of working with NGOs in India in the past, and is an active project coordinator with UNESCO projects in brussels.

Currently Sumeet works as an external consultant with The Institute of Infrastructure, Environment and Innovation and as a coordinator for New!Delta project for Action 1.2 Database and Networks.
